Long Answer:
NO!
Welfare in its many forms is the single most destructive program ever concocted by the enemies of American Culture. It is the Engine of Liberalism. It has propelled the Democratic Party and its Liberal Leadership onto the forefront of America’s Political Stage by enslaving its participants into a perpetual lethargy of ignorance, crime, poverty, and, most importantly, dependency.
Welfare exacerbated the Great Depression upon its creation (World War II ended the Depression – not Social Programs). Welfare has attempted to destroy the family by removing the Father. Welfare breeds ignorance and sloth by mitigating the consequences of failure and stifling the rewards of success. Welfare has drained our coffers while yielding nothing but votes and fealty to the Democratic Party. It is anathema to American Incomparability; it is the antithesis of progress.
Although Welfare has existed in some form since the "New Deal", instead of eradicating the necessity of its own existence (as it logically should), more and more people join its sullied ranks. Trillions of hard-earned dollars have been spent fighting the "War on Poverty" over the years only to have Welfare's membership swell, and its programs expanded. The reason for Welfare's longevity lies in its cunning self-propagation and its alluring emotional ruse.
The Participants are kept in a state of poverty (by American Standards), but are provided ample supplies of food, shelter, and entertainment. Their standard of living is maintained at a high enough level, such that gaining employment would be a detriment to their current lifestyle. Because this minimum standard of living is guaranteed, the only way that they can suffer abject failure is if they attempt to achieve a lifestyle greater than their current predicament. This encourages sloth whilst discouraging advancement, just as it has in every single Communist/Socialist Nation throughout the world since the creation of these political/philosophical abominations.
The Non-Participant Proponents, on the other hand, are not concerned about the outcome, or the results; they are only interested in their own emotional satiation. For Liberals, caring about a problem is more important than solving a problem. For the Legislators enacting these measures, Welfare is a means to control people and gain power by ensuring an ample supply of ignorant constituents whose dependency ensures loyalty to the Democratic Party.
The answer to this problem is a methodical eradication of the current Welfare system. Individuals that are truly handicapped can, should, and will be taken care of; however, Our Nation contains literally millions of able-bodied adults who should not be the beneficiaries of charity. To continue this patronization is simply wrong.
One Inalienable truth of Human Nature is that we thrive in strife. This is especially true of Americans. When the rest of the world has failed, when a task has been deemed impossible, America triumphs because her people are strong. I warrant that when Welfare is eliminated, and its participants are faced with hunger or work, they will find the skills, intelligence, and talent to not merely survive, but to flourish beyond anyone’s expectations. The United States is the Greatest Nation in the world because of Freedom - Both the Freedom to Succeed and, likewise the Freedom to Fail. You cannot mitigate one without stifling the other.
